KIMONOS
When Lauren Yanks, Executive Director of the Blue Butterfly Foundation, saw the makeshift store, she knew that it was time to help Nirmala get her clothes out to the world.
Lauren connected with Nicole Guzzo, a fashion designer from Vancouver. In 2019, Nicole joined Lauren in Nepal and volunteered 3 weeks of her time helping Nirmala and a group of young women broaden their skills. Together, they made different clothes and accessories for women around the world. They worked on a number of different projects, including the creation of beautiful, multi-colored kimonos.
FASHION SHOW
After helping the group create beautiful kimonos, Nicole convinced the usually very shy girls into putting on a kimono fashion show. It was an empowering experience with lots of laughter.
